Pendjari National Park Administration
The Direction of Pendjari National Park (DPNP) is the administrative office responsible for the daily management of the Pendjari Biosphere Reserve. Since 1996, DPNP is one of the administrative organizations of the National Centre for Management of Wildlife Reserves (CENAGREF).
For the first 50 years, the area of Pendjari was known as a forest reserve and on December 13, 1954 the area was exclusively known for the Pendjari wildlife loop. The classification as a National Park was made after the independence of Benin by Decree No. 132/FR/MAC/CF in May 6, 1961. In June 1986, the park was classified as a MAB Biosphere Reserve and in February 2007, the River Valley in Pendjari was recognized as a site of international importance (Ramsar site).
